Hey y’all, Welcome to Kaley Dennis Photography!
I’m so glad you are here and reading my FIRST EVER BLOG POST! Literally, this is my first blog post of my life and never before have I felt so excited about writing. Truth be told writing is not my strong suit, [secret #103: I’m a math girl], but what I do love is connecting with people. I love creating passion through expression of words and images.
A little about me…
I am 23 years old and live in a small town in the great state of Oklahoma. I am married to an exceptional man named Trae, who has supported this dream from every season it’s been in. We have been together since February of my senior year in High School. In May of 2016, what I prayed for many times finally happened: The Proposal. Wow, that is a funny story I plan on telling you all very soon! 7 Months later on January 1st, 2018 we said our I Do’s with all of our loved ones surrounding us. It was truly a magical day. Now Trae & I were like most young couples, we told each other we would wait to have children and take a few years to be just married, but on a September morning that all changed when we saw those two amazing pink lines. We cried, our parents cried, our siblings jumped for joy and our best friends were over the moon [first young adult couple in our church to have a baby in 13 years… needless to say everyone was ecstatic]. We welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world 2 1/2 weeks early on May 22, 2018 [her Papa Dennis’s birthday], weighing in at a whole 5 pounds 7 ounces and 18 3/4in long. Having a child completely changed our world in the best way possible and we truly are so blessed to be her parents.
A little about my business…
Photography has been on my heart since I was at the ripe age of 15. I remember borrowing my Step-Mom’s camera and snapping photos like crazy after school every day. Fast-forward to my first year out of high school, and what I thought was just a fun hobby actually started bringing in a few dollars. But this dream of mine always seemed to stay just that, a dream. I went to college and nothing ever felt right. I bounced around majors until I just decided to settle with a Business Degree. The same thing happened with my jobs, none of them ever felt like: “This is where I will be for the rest of my life”. I decided to take the leap in the summer of 2016 and go FULL-TIME Photographer. It was going okay, but boy after two months in I had only booked maybe a handful of clients. The doubt and fear set in again. I allowed all of the negative thoughts to take over my dream and I crumbled.
Years passed and I took photos of basically just friends & family. Let me tell you, after every single session I had the biggest rush of adrenaline and excitement. I truly love being a photographer. I followed God on every single path he set me on and it led me to being blessed with an amazing child and the opportunity to be a stay-at-home-mother. My gratitude to my hard working husband and God blessing our family is more than I can put into words. I get to live my best life daily raising our daughter and it has honestly opened a path way and cleared the fear of failure as being a business owner.
I listened to God and for the first time in almost 8 years, I finally decided I wanted my photography business to succeed and flourish! I had fought and battled for so long with the fear of not being a successful business owner, because honestly the entrepreneurship world is scary. But the fighting is over and the hustle has begun.
I tell you all of this because if you’re feeling this way about your business, stop! You are amazing and you can push through the struggle to bring you to the success!
